Easily the best sounding Digital Mellotron out there, the sounds are stunning, very dimensional, accurate, and work great in any production. I’ve used in several productions so far and all my clients are thrilled.
And the “M” light! Touch it and it changes color! Lightweight, amazing build quality, and really a delight to play.I do wish half-speed was easier to get to than having to go into a menu, maybe long-hold on the Octave switch?Absolutely love this instrument!By Raymond R on November 5, 2019. I just received my Mellotron Micro today, and am overjoyed.
I am impressed with the helpful and prompt service of Vintage King. Hats off to the folks at Mellotron for updating their iconic instrument. It’s a dream come true to own and use one in the modern age. The sounds are incredible, and I like the fact you can blend sound-banks A & B to create more sound textures. The Micro is well made and compact, making it ideal for live gigs, something that original tape-rack Mellotrons were never really suited for. It may be a no-frills basic version of the original, but still a work of art.By Cary H on October 15, 2019.
There really is nothing quite like a Mellotron. I think of it as the fairy dust of musical instruments: anything you sprinkle with it will magically become better. The build quality of the Micro is extremely sturdy and the keys have a beautiful feel to them.I was originally concerned that it didn't have a stereo out, but I quickly realized that it simply doesn't need one and adds to the overall 'Mellotronness' of the sound.
It's also a dream to mix. I can't recommend it highly enough.By Rob M on January 28, 2019. For years I've eyed the newer iterations of the Mellotron. Having shed the tape racks of decades past, the updated synth/keyboard-style form factor alleviates the bulk and weight of its namesake ancestors. No longer physically imposing; the Mellotron re-imagined as portable and so seemingly intuitive to use. Then, there are those sounds. So powerful, so melancholy, so wistful.
However, for one reason or another, the Mellotron remained beyond my reach. I tried recreating some of the sounds on a pedalboard (SuperegoOrganizerPhaserChorus), with varying levels of success. Not Mellotron per se, but more like a friend-of-a-friend of Mellotron. Anyway, earlier this year I stumbled upon a video from an industry trade show, premiering the Micro. Simpler, smaller, and just a gear swap away from being within my financial reach.
Fast-forward two months, and the newly acquired Micro has integrated seamlessly into practices. The feel, the playability, the breadth of sounds and their quality, are well beyond what Id ever hoped to experience. Truly an exceptional piece of musical gear. Highly recommended.By Eric LC on July 6, 2017 Show More Reviews.
